Umueri General Assembly (UGA) has sworn in newly elected officials to man the affairs of the community.

 

The swearing in ceremony which was conducted according to the constitution of the community and geared towards promoting peace, unity and grassroots leadership, took place at Ama-Umueri civic center.

 

Chidinma Ikeanyionwu was there and reports that the newly elected members of Umueri General Assembly are, President General-Chief Johnny Metchie, Deputy President General- Mr. Udenze John Ajana, Secretary General-Mr. Achunike Ivekwu, Assistance secretary-Comrade Nzedigwe Obiora Francis and Treasurer-Mr. Tochi Henry Chidebelu

Others are, Financial Secretary-Mr. Wisdom Onuorah, Welfare one-Evangelist Ikechukwu Amutaigwe, Provost one-Mr. Timothy Anidumaka Oguejiofor, Provost two, Emeka Cosmos, Anekwe Ejimofor, Provost three, Mr. Nwakonuche, Provost four.  PRO one Mr. Ifeanyi Vincent Oforkansi, PRO two Mr. Igwenagu Calistus, Auditor one Mr. Ojadi Kenneth, Auditor two Pastor Pius Nweke, Legal Adviser one Barrister Anansi Johnson Chinweike, Legal Adviser two Barrister Anthony Nonso Morah.

 

The former President General of Umueri Chief Charles Ifediora who handed over the baton of leadership to his successor Chief Johnny Metchie noted that the election conducted on the 5th of March was ninety-nine per cent successful and urged any member of the community that might have been aggrieved one way or another during the election period to accept the mandate of the people and join hands in moving the community forward.

A Chieftain of the community, Chief Sam Umeadi conducted the swearing-in of the newly elected exco.

 

Speaking immediately after the handover, the newly elected President General of Umueri General Assembly Chief Metchie appreciated the members of UGA and promised to give his best to making Umueri stand out in Anambra.

 

He  further called on all sons of Umueri both home and in the diaspora to come together in making their homeland a liveable and enviable one.

 

Present during the event were members of the Umueri Royal Cabinet, and the clergy among others.
