Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, has assured the Police Service Commission of the state government’s support in the recruitment of 2021 constables into the Nigeria Police Force.

 

Dr Ibezim gave the assurance when the representative of the Police Service Commission Abuja, paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the Government House, Awka.

 

Correspondent Emmanuel Chigbata reports that while welcoming the delegates, Dr Ibezim who said the recruitment is necessary following the depletion of the police, either by retirement, death or health issues , restated the resolve of the government by fulfilling its primary obligation of securing the lives and property of her citizenry as contained in the Governor’s manifesto.

He described the work of the Police as onerous, especially during this period of general insecurity in the country which he described as a big challenge to government at all levels.

 

The Deputy governor who praised the efforts of the Police as the lead organ in internal security, looked forward to the commission recruiting citizens of Nigeria who will not only be screened physically or health wise but also morally to make the nation proud.

 

Earlier, the Head of Press and Public Relations Officer of the Police Service Commission, Mr Ikechukwu Ani, said that the commission is in its third stage for the 2021 recruitment of constables into the police force, which he said is a national assignment that came from the presidential approval for recruitment of ten thousand policemen across Nigeria for five years.

 

He explained that the commission is determined to give the police the necessary capacity to discharge their duties and to ensure maximum security across the country.

 

In a vote of thanks, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Nigerians Police Force, Anambra State Command, Mr Tochukwu Ikenga, pleaded with the state government to assist in sensitizing the people on the need to join the policfas there is a wide gap in the recruitment exercise.

 

Other members of the team include Mrs Ifeanyi Mpamah in charge of Police Affairs, the Chief Administration Officer of the commission, Nkiru Ike-Nwodo and assistant Chief Confidential Secretary, Cecilia Anyakora among others.
