Family of Late Engineer Marcel Azodo-Manafa of Eziagulu, Aguleri, Anambra East Council Area  has marked the first-year memorial service of their matriarch, Late Ezinne Cecilia Ifeonu Manafa.

 

The mass which took place at Saint Joseph’s Pro-Cathedral Aguleri witnessed the presence of the immediate past governor of the state, Chief Willie Obiano, Traditional Ruler of Aguleri, Dr Michael Idigo and cabinet members, Manafa family, friends and well-wishers who converged to glorify God for the life and times of Late Ezinne Manafa

Correspondent Amaka Chibuzor Okoye reports that the program featured the unveiling of the tombs of their departed parents as a sign of honour and prestige to them having given birth, moulded, tutored and saw them become meaningful and resourceful personalities before their departure to the world beyond.

 

In a homily during the mass, the Parish Vicar, Reverend Father Thaddeus Uka said the wound at the body of Jesus Christ is a sign indicating where their salvation comes from stating that Christ emptied and humbled himself through his death to salvage mankind.

Speaking, the immediate past governor of the state, Chief Willie Obiano said he accompanied the Manafa family as a relation in remembering their matriarch who during her lifetime worked tirelessly for the progress, success and peace of all around her encouraging them to always keep their parent’s legacies alive.

The traditional ruler of Aguleri, Dr Micheal Idigo went down memory lane on how late Ezinne Manafa together with his family raised them describing her as a generous, kind and loving mother noting that her legacies will continue to be upheld while urging her children to exhibit the sterling qualifies of their mum.

 

The first son of the deceased, Mr Marcel Manafa said that the memorial service was to pay tributes to the parents, saying that they are special and nice to people, adding that they miss them each day because of the peace, harmony, togetherness and oneness instilled in them calling on his siblings to hold unto God and remember their parents in prayers.

On his part, the Traditional Prime Minister of Aguleri, Chief Henry Manafa who is also Ezinne Manafa’s son, noted that for the past thirty years, they have lived with the memory of their father and now their mum has joined him extolling the spirits, bond and quality upbringing which they were raised with asking God to unite them the more.

 

In their separate speeches, the first and last daughter of Ezinne Manafa, Mrs Path Ifeadi-Idigo and Dr Uju Nwume said their consolation is that their mum is on the right-hand side of God having lived a fulfilled life.

 

Lending his voice was the son-in-law, Chief Path Nwume and first granddaughter, Dr Chinenye Iloejeh regretted missing Mrs Manafa, saying that her love for them is second to none.

 

Special thanksgiving by the family and unveiling of the tombs formed highlights of the service.
