Telecommunication companies have lost about seventy-five point seven-eight billion naira as subscribers struggle to link their National Identification Number to the Subscriber Identity Module, about twenty-two days after the Federal Government directed telecommunication companies to bar defaulting consumers from making outgoing calls.
On April fourth, the Federal Government directed telecommunication companies to restrict outgoing calls on all lines that had not linked their Subscriber Identity Modules to National Identification Number after the deadline for the verification exercise expired on March thirty-first.
As a result, about seventy-two point seven-seven million active telecommunication subscribers were barred from making calls on their Subscriber Identity Modules.
Voice revenue is a major source of revenue for telecommunication companies.
