The Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union of Nigeria, RATTAWU, led by its Vice President South East region, Prince Emeka Kalu has paid a courtesy call on the Anambra State Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Mr. Don Onyenji in his office in Awka.
Prince Kalu who was in the company of the Anambra state executive members of the union and other key members, in a remark noted that the visit was to identify with the Commissioner on his appointment, while seeking ways to support him to ensure that the ministry achieves its aims and objectives.
Prince Kalu noted that the Commissioner being a broadcaster of repute, a foundational member of the union in the state, and an event planner, is well disposed to turn the fortunes of the ministry around for the greater benefits of Ndi Anambra.
While welcoming the union executive and their members, Commissioner Onyenji emphasized that given governor Soludo’s disposition towards showcasing and marketing homegrown products and services, the ministry has positioned itself to make tourist sites in Anambra state attractive to draw visitors and investors alike.
He also posited that to ensure healthy living through leisure and entertainment, the ministry will be organizing masquerade festivals and art exhibitions amongst others and called on Ndi Anambra to desist from unwholesome acts, even as he appealed for all hands to be on deck to ensure that Anambra succeeds.
Some members of the union who spoke during the visit, including Mr. Andy Onwualu, who is the Anambra state Chairman of RATTAWU, Mrs. Orjima Ugochukwu, the Arts and Culture Chairman and Lady Tina Ekenta who is the state Secretary of the union said that the capacity of the Commissioner to make a difference is not in doubt, being a square peg in a square hole and that they are willing to join him in repositioning the ministry.
The event climaxed with a solidarity chant by the union members together with the Commissioner.
