Anambra State Commissioner for Culture, Tourism and Entertainment, Comrade Don Onyenji has said that the ABS Film Village will help make Anambra a center for film production, with accruing benefits.

 

Speaking after inspecting the project sited at the ABS Corporate Headquarters Awka, Commissioner Onyenji described the project as an extension of the dreams and manifesto of Governor Soludo.

He thanked ABS for providing land for the project, which he said will also impact on the state economically, open up the larger world for budding actors, as well as help Ndigbo rediscover who they are, saying that his ministry is on course in achieving Governor Soludo’s goal in governance.

 

Contributing, the Special Adviser to Governor Soludo on Entertainment, Leisure and Tourism, Mr. Bob-Manuel Udokwu, who noted that in a typical African Igbo setting, such structures at the ABS Film Village are rarely found, said the project will go a long way in helping, especially Ndigbo rediscover themselves, calling on privileged individuals to help the government achieve some set goals.

On his part, the Acting Managing Director of the ABS, Mr. Gab Okpalaeze, said aside from impacting on programme contents of the broadcast station, the film village will also help achieve the lofty ideals of the Soludo administration.

 

The Commissioner, who was accompanied on the visit by the Director of Tourism, Mr. Emma Umeokana, Director of Culture, Mrs. Chioma Ifediora, and the Director of Diaspora Affairs, Mrs. Nneka Nwankwo, was conducted around the project site Mr. Okpalaeze and a filmmaker, Mrs. Chinyere Okonmah.
