Anambra State Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Mr Julius Chukwuemeka, says provision of social amenities and developmental projects is top priority of the Soludo administration.

 

Mr Chukwuemeka an Engineer stated this at Otuocha Regional Water Scheme, in Anambra East Local Government Area, during a tour of the facility.

Correspondent, Blessing Uchendu reports that the water facility, a partnership between the Anambra State Government and the European Union, is sourced from the Omambala River, and serves three communities, including Aguleri, Umueri and Umuoba-Anam.

 

Speaking shortly after the inspection, Mr Chukwuemeka said the visit was to see things for himself and identify areas of intervention as the present government has designed a comprehensive water masterplan to ensure that Ndi Anambra has portable water.

He called on traditional rulers, Presidents-General and other community leaders to help secure and maintain underground pipes that distribute water to the needed areas.

 

Conducting the Commissioner round the facility, the Acting Director, Water Resources Department of the Ministry, Mr Victor Ezekwo explained that the water, after being treated, moves to the overhead tank situated at Father Joseph Catholic Church, Aguleri from where it reticulates to different points.

He disclosed that with the water project, people of the area will no longer lack potable water
