A former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and a presidential aspirant under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for 2023 General Election, Professor Kingsley Moghalu, has said that he prioritizes the potential of Nigerian youths as major force to a prosperous nation.

Professor Moghalu stated this during a consultative meeting with the Youth Wing of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, in Awka.

Professor Moghalu, who also contested for the same position in the 2019 General Election, was also a former UN diplomat and served as Deputy Governor of the CBN between 2009 and 2014

According to him, he was active and dogged in the banking reforms during his time at the apex bank, which he said restored investor’s confidence in the banking sector, and also played key role in the introduction of the Bank Verification Number (BVN), which has made banking system safer and serves as a catalyst for the growth of financial technology in the financial market.

Professor Moghalu, who noted that the time is long overdue for youths to take their place in governance, stated that it is time to re-engineer the minds of the young people for the country to attain greatness.

The presidential aspirant also pointed out that it is only the youth that can transform Nigeria with their sound mind and creative potential, and used the occasion to urge youths to engage in politics and stop being used as political slaves.

In his speech, the National Chairman, Youth Wing, Christian Association of Nigeria, Mr Belusochukwu Enwere revealed that the association which cuts across all ethnicity and religion has agreed that it is time to allow young and vibrant hands to pilot national leadership, and that it found Professor Moghalu worthy in all considerations.
