The third session of the Twelfth Synod of Anglican Communion, Diocese of Awka, has ended with a call for all to support Igbo candidacy come 2023 presidential election.

 

The synod held at Saint Peter’s Anglican Church Abagana, Njikoka Council Area, has its theme as ‘Running the Christian Race: Implications for The Believers in Perilous times and was presided over by the Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of The Niger, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim who is also the Bishop Diocese of Awka, among other Archbishops, Bishops, and the clergy.

 

 

The State governor Professor Charles Soludo and his deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, other government officials and many others, including the President, Mother’s Union, Women’s Guild and Girls ‘Guild Province of The Niger, Mrs. Martha Ibezim were present during the service

 

In a sermon to mark the synod thanksgiving, the Bishop of Kebbi Diocese, Most Reverend Edmond Akanya said that the present situation in the country is steering at every body’s face with hardship, poverty and hunger and advocated for change of barton down to Igbo race as Ndigbo are people of intellectual capabilities and will do marvelously well if giving the opportunity to lead the nation.

 

 

Most Reverend Akanya noted that the theme of the synod is reminding everyone that Christian race starts with the love of God who gave his only son to salvage mankind, stating that if they do not have the understanding of the gospel, it will affect their heavenly race as God is desirous of welcoming his people on the last day.

 

The Primate Church of Nigeria, Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba represented by the Dean Church of Nigeria, Anglican communion Most Reverend Buba Lamido charged the Diocese to continue to persevere and assist in building the church of Nigeria.

 

The service featured cutting of the synod cake, special thanksgiving among other side attractions.
