South easterners have been called upon to elect leaders that know the historical knowledge of the problems of the Igbo people and by extension are determined to confront those challenges, especially at the upper chamber.
A one-time national chairman of the All- Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Victor Umeh made the call at his country home at Aguluzigbo, Anaocha Local Government Area.
Chief Umeh, who also represented Anambra Central Senatorial District, noted that the Igbos have been marginalized in all national affairs and described the 2023 general elections as the appropriate time Ndi Igbo should send fearless, articulated, and people with strong voices, who have the power of arguments and persuasions to the national assembly, in order to confront the challenges affecting Ndi Igbo.
Chief Umeh said any person, who must be sent to represent Ndi Igbo must have a mission and should use the plight of the Igbos to demonstrate their inequalities by sponsoring motions that would serve them.
While pointing out that the senate is a place to arouse national consciousness and attention to the people, Chief Umeh called on the south easterners to send people, who are passionate and understand the problems of the Igbos.
Chief Umeh called on the federal government to address grievances of all Nigerians if truly they want a united nation, adding that grievances of the people cannot be fought with guns.
