The Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Female Football Team which will represent Nigeria at the All-Africa University Games, holding in Kenya in June, have given an assurance of making the country proud.

 

They gave the assurance when the team handlers and captain, paid a courtesy call on to the Acting Managing Director, Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, Mr. Gab Okpalaeze in Awka.

According to one of the handlers of the team, Mr. Wilson Ugwu, it is wonderful having the UNIZIK Female Football Team represent Nigeria at the All-Africa University Games in Kenya, as they came tops at South East University Games and at Nigeria University Games, calling for support as they embark on the journey to do Nigeria proud.

 

While welcoming the team to his office, Mr. Okpalaeze expressed satisfaction seeing such young ladies preparing to fly the country’s flag and urged them to do the country proud by demonstrating the Igbo and African Woman Spirit which Governor Chukwumma Soludo always emphasized while he promising to give them needed support to succeed.

Speaking earlier , the Chairman, Vice Chancellor and Senate Committee on Sports, UNIZIK, Awka, Dr. Dereck Orji, explained that the team have always made exploits within the country and with needed support and preparation, they will do Anambra State and the country proud.

 

The Director of Sports, UNIZIK, Awka, Mr. Chibueze Ogbonna affirmed that they are in high spirit to show their skills to the world as he called for necessary support to bring the trophy home.
