In line with the earlier endorsement of the Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Uche Okafor for another tenure in office by the people of Ayamelum Local government area, the Omambala Women Trader’s Association, Ayamelum chapter has thrown their weight behind the reelection bid of the speaker.
The women’s group moved round the market square of the Ifite-Ogwari community singing solidarity songs in support of the speaker’s re-election bid.
House of Assembly correspondent Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that speaking at the speaker’s residence, Ifite-Ogwari where the women converged, the leader of the group, Mrs. Caroline Onuorah explained that they endorsed Right Honourable Okafor for another tenure so that they will continue to enjoy his quality representation.
She disclosed that women in Ayamelum Local government area benefited a lot from the speaker, stressing that if he is reelected, he will attract more dividends of democracy to Ndi Ayamelum with his position as a principal member of the House.
In his remarks, the President General of Ifite-Ogwari Town Union, Mr. Oliver Okonkwo said that the Speaker attracted infrastructural development to Ayamelum and ensured that every community in the area secured political appointment from the past administration, adding that Ifite-Ogwari people are solidly behind his reelection bid.
Responding, Right Honourable Okafor commended the women for confirming his wonderful performances in the area by endorsing him for another tenure, assuring that he will not disappoint them.
Right Honourable Okafor who highlighted all his achievements in Ayamelum constituency, informed the gathering that Governor Chukwuma Soludo will construct Omor-Umuerum-Awba-Ofemili-Awka road in no distant time.
He also revealed that the Governor has given a directive that all the women groups in Ayamelum Local government area should form cooperative societies and register them with Anambra State Government for economic empowerment.
