Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu says the State government will sustain efforts to retool the Anambra Newspapers Printing and Publishing Corporation the publishers of National Light, as well as retain its staff for improved service delivery.
He disclosed this at the Corporation’s corporate headquarters in Awka, in his ongoing familiarization tour of Departments, Agencies and Parastatals under the Ministry.
After inspecting the facilities at the corporation, the Commissioner observed that most equipment is outdated and cannot effectively meet the demands of modern-day printing and publishing, adding that there are still rays of hope to improve the Internally Generated Revenue that will keep the firm running optimally.
While acknowledging that Newspaper firms are challenged by the advent of social media, which forces them to look for alternative sources of income, the Commissioner said though resources are scarce, the corporation will receive desired attention to continuously yield dividends, adding that skilled workers with the right attitude to work are necessary for achieving desired results.
In a remark the Managing Director and Editor in Chief of Anambra Newspapers Printing and Publishing Corporation, Sir Chuka Nnabuife who thanked the Soludo administration for efforts to reenergize the information sector of the State said the corporation has continued to achieve more with available resources and assured that it will continue to help in achieving the lofty ideas of the Soludo administration.
The Commissioner was joined at the visit by the supervising Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Sir Samuel Ike, Acting Director of Information, Mr Anthony Nweke, among others, and had a brief meeting with the management staff of the Corporation.
