A former National Chairman of the All-Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Victor Umeh has asked the party’s delegates who would be voting in the primary elections to prioritize character and antecedents of those aspiring for different political positions.
Chief Umeh, who stated this in an interview with the ABS observed that it is important to stand behind those who have something to offer, for the purpose of safeguarding the future of Anambra State.
He stated that the delegates must have to make wise choices in who to vote for because it is only when APGA have quality candidates that it can make victorious headway in the general election.
Chief Umeh who formerly represented Anambra Central Senatorial District, at the National Assembly commended the peaceful atmosphere under which APGA primary elections have begun, stating that he is optimistic that it would continue until the end.
The former APGA National Chairman, who is aspiring to represent Anambra Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly in the 2023 general elections, under the party, said that he possesses the experience, character, antecedents and foresight demanded for top level politics at the senate, arguing that despite being there for a short while in his last outing, he played impactful roles on issues that concerned Anambra State and Ndi Igbo.
He said that with the current political turns in Nigeria, it is important for the delegates as well as the electorate to vote for people who understand the country’s situation and have the courage and boldness to be part of the conversations to make Nigeria work.
Chief Umeh stated that next year’s general election presents a great opportunity for APGA, especially in Anambra State, observing that if the party wins all the seats in both national and State Houses of Assembly, there would be excellent synergy between the representatives and the state government, which will aid development.
On the rumours of leadership crisis within the party, Chief Umeh rebuffed the reports and said that it is an aimless attempt by an impostor to initiate confusion, adding that the leadership of the party remains intact with Chief Victor Oye as the only legally recognized National Chairman of APGA.
