The Vice President of Ọhaneze Ndịgbo Worldwide, Chief Damian Okeke Ogene, has expressed confidence that Presidential aspirants of Igbo extraction can win 2023 election without belonging to major political parties.

Speaking in Awka, the Anambra State capital, Chief Okeke Ogene said the time has come for Ndịgbo to take their destiny in their hands and reassume their rightful position in the country.

Paul Ezeoke reports that Chief Okeke Ogene called for collective efforts to increase the voting strength of South East States to give the region stronger bargaining power in Nigeria politics, noting that Ndịgbo constitute more than twenty-five percent of the population of every State in the country and federal capital territory, and would form formidable force to reckon with if they participate actively in the coming election.

He called on eligible voters of Igbo extraction anywhere in the country, who have registered to collect their permanent voter’s cards, while those who have not registered should do so to ensure they equip themselves properly to participate in the electoral process, in order to give Ndịgbo the needed number to compete effectively with other zones in the 2023 and future elections.

He urged community leaders and other stakeholders to join hands in mobilising people in their areas to see voting in elections as civic responsibility that would help to entrench good governance, and made it clear that with the situation of things in the country over the years, Nigerians are looking for a new political order to change the national narrative.

Chief Okeke Ogene urged youths to champion the course to enthrone a responsive governance that will protect their future and use available resources to provide opportunities for collective welfare of Nigerians.

Also speaking, a public affairs analyst, Chief Alex Chukwuma, urged eligible voters in Igboland to arm themselves with permanent voter’s cards to enable them participate actively in coming elections.

Chief Chukwuma explained that with permanent voter’s cards, the electorate could actualize the desired change and enthrone leadership of their choice without counting on major political parties, which he said would bring a new dawn in the country.
