The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC, has vowed to ensure that the set down rules according to Good Manufacturing Practices are maintained across the country to protect and promote the interest of consumers in a free and fair market environment.

 

The South East zonal coordinator of FCCPC, Mr. Anthony Nwafor, made the vow at a manufacturing company at Onitsha in Anambra State.

 

Mr. Nwafor, noted that FCCPC as a federal government agency was established under the FCCP Act of 2018 with the mandate to promote and protect the interest of consumers.

 

He further listed the adoption of appropriate measures to guarantee that goods and services are safe for intended or normally safe use; Act generally to reduce the risk and injury which may occur from consumption of certain consumer items and other services rendered to consumers, to curtail anti-Competitive practices, which includes price fixing, monopoly, cartel, among others as some of their mandates.

 

On his part, the manager, Corporate Affairs of the company, Mr. Damian Igwe, assured the FCCPC team of the company’s total compliance to the guidelines and set down rules, even as he guaranteed of their preparedness to collaborate with the commission to ensure that their mandate is met.
