The Youth Wing, Christian Association of Nigeria, YOWICAN, has called for the extension and decentralization of the ongoing continuous voter registration exercise across the country.

 

The group made the call while on a courtesy visit to the Acting Managing Director of Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, Mr Gab Okpalaeze, and said that the steps will ensure participation of more people in the 2023 and future elections in Nigerian.

Speaking through the Director of Youths, Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Anambra State Chapter, Reverend Chiaghanam Onwurah and Assistant Secretary, YOWICAN, Anambra State Chapter, Brother Sunday Chiekeze, the group called on youths of voting age to visit INEC registration centres to get registered in order to join in electing leaders that will serve the people’s interest.

 

They equally called on politicians and other relevant stakeholders to help in ensuring that the ongoing continuous voter registration exercise is brought to the people in order to decongest INEC registration centres across the State and nation, and save people the stress associated with the ongoing exercise.

Earlier, the State Chairman of YOWICAN, Brother Nwabueze Nwokoye, said the visit was to appreciate the Acting Managing Director of the ABS for the good work ABS is doing, particularly in areas of education, enlightenment and reorientation of Ndi Anambra.

 

He called for collaboration and synergy in bringing solutions to social vices and insecurity facing the State and the nation at large.

Responding, the Acting Managing Director of the ABS, Mr Okpalaeze, restated the commitment of ABS to the welfare of Ndi Anambra, adding that ABS programmes are targeted at reorientation of the youths, assuring of sustenance.

 

He promised that ABS will give the group platforms to contribute in moulding characters of the youths, adding that more partnership with groups such as YOWICAN will add to the success stories of the ABS, and in the interest of the State.

 

YOWICAN, Anambra State Chapter Vice Chairman, Honourable Vincent Akuewulu, Secretary, Honourable Eric Azuka, Treasurer, Barrister Ben Edozie and Director of State Issues and Welfare, Comrade Onyeka Ezeokonwo, were part of the visit.
