The need to maintain proper health care among journalists was the crux of the matter during a courtesy visit by the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Anambra state Council to the Chief Medical Director, Princeton Orthopedic Hospital, Awka, Dr Amaechi Nwachukwu.
The visit was to solicit partnership with the management of the hospital in an upcoming NUJ health summit week.
Receiving the executive members led by the chairman of NUJ in Anambra state, Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Amaechi Nwachukwu underscored the importance of regular checks, as according to him, a lot of factors trigger ill health in individuals at any time.
Dr Nwachukwu who commended the NUJ for having good thoughts about welfare of its members, promised to partner with them during the event.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of NUJ, Anambra state council, Dr Odogwu, thanked the CMD for his philanthropic efforts, which included assisting accident victims, providing free treatment to the less fortunate, and subsidizing treatment for NUJ members.
Dr Odogwu also thanked him for accepting to be part of the event.
Also, Mrs Chinyere Fessy-Okoye, Chairman of the NUJ Health Committee, stated that the purpose of the visit was to request his presence at the summit as the event’s chairman.
She said that in the course of carrying out their duties as journalists, they often neglect to maintain healthy lifestyles, and as such, they have decided to carry out this health activity and enlighten themselves on good health practices.
In a vote of thanks, Comrade David Eleke praised the CMD, Dr. Nwachukwu, for being philanthropic and media friendly.
