Anambra State Government has restated its commitment to ensuring security of lives and property of the citizenry.

 

The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr. Collins Nwabunwanne restated this during Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council meeting at the government house Awka.

 

Mr. Nwabunwanne, who explained that Governor Chukwuma Soludo is doing everything humanly possible to secure the lives and property of all the residents of Anambra State, announced that government has made some numbers available for them to call in case of emergency.

 

He announced that the state has over a thousand security personnel on ground, in addition to other organized security outfits, which operate with specialized vehicles, powered by Governor Soludo for effective performance.

 

The Local Government Boss also announced that the present administration is winning the war against criminal elements in state and urged the traditional rulers to report suspicious persons and activities within their communities to appropriate authority for quick intervention.

 

Commissioner Nwabunwanne assured the traditional rulers that he will intimate the governor on the need to meet with the royal fathers when the need arises while promising them improved welfare.

 

Responding, the chairman, Anambra State Traditional Rulers’ Council and the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe, while appreciating the Commissioner for his visit and support, asked him to look into the new traditional rulers’ law to enable them to make input even as he pledged their unalloyed support to the present administration.

 

Obi Achebe also decried the spate of killings and maiming in different parts of the country and called for attitudinal change.
