Osile Community in Ogbunike, Oyi Local Government Area has elected Chief Chukwukadibia Okoye as its chairman after the dissolution of an eight man care taker committee set up by the state government to resolve the crisis that rocked the community over the years.

 

The election, which was conducted with Option A4 Voting System, attracted various delegates and Oyi Local Government Council representatives, who monitored the election, held at Osile Town Hall, Ogbunike.

The community also elected Ogboisato executives, who were ladened with the responsibility of ensuring one man one plot of land allocation in Osile Community.

 

After the dissolution of the Caretaker Committee, an electoral body, led by Mr. Stephen Nwadiogbu was constituted to fore see the election of the new executives that will pilot the affairs of Osile Community for four years.

The chairman of the eight-man caretaker committee, Chief Anthony Isizor in his farewell speech thanked the Osile people for their support during their administration which according to him recorded a huge success in spite of the effort of some detractors to thwart their plans of conducting a credible election.

 

In their different addresses, the Secretary, Caretaker Committee, Mr. Elochukwu Ekwugha and his Ogboisato counterpart Mr. Ikechukwu Okakpu highlighted all the achievements they recorded within three months in office.

 

The option A4 Election, which saw Chief Okoye as the chairman of Osile Ogbunike Progressive Union, was commended by Chief Ekene Enefe who expressed joy at the outcome and credibility.

In their separate speeches, the local government representatives, Mrs. Azuka Ezeoke and Mrs. Ifeoma Umezulike commended the electorate for their sincere approach and comportment as well as the outcome of the election, advising the people to give their elected executive maximum support.

 

The new chairman, Chief Okoye thanked the people for putting their trust in him and pledged to serve them better.

 

Speakers at the event including Chief Okey Umeokachie, Ogbueshi Gabriel Isiuzor and Ogbueshi Nnanyelude among others expressed joy and gratitude to God for the outcome of the election praying God to bless the new executives.

Other officers elected were, Mr. Ogochukwu Onyeasi, Vice Chairman, Mr. Loveday Obiesie, Secretary, Surveyor Chigozie Okoye, Financial Secretary, Mr. Chukwuma Agina, Treasurer, among others.

 

Highpoint of the election was the administration of oath of office to the new executive by the President General, Ogbunike Progressive Union, Chief Chukwugozie Ikegwuonu.
