The Anambra state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike says mass distribution of insecticide treated nets will commence on August seventh, 2022, across the state.

Dr.Obidike made this known during the Insecticide Treated Nets Campaign Coordination Network meeting held at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka.

Commissioner who urged Ndi Anambra to ensure that they participate fully in the ongoing exercise aimed at preventing and eliminating malaria in the state, noted that the Ministry in collaboration with the National Malaria Elimination Programme and Malaria Consortium partners will commence mass distribution of Insecticide Treated Nets to every household across the state from August seventh to seventeenth, 2022.

He explained that during the exercise, some people will wear uniforms with malaria logos on it, move from house to house to register households and issue them with the free nets and asked for the support of all stakeholders and the general public to ensure successful implementation and distribution of the nets in the state.

The Health Commissioner advised Ndi Anambra to spread the nets under the sun for twenty-four hours before use, even as he made it clear that the more people sleep inside their nets, Anambra communities would be protected from mosquitoes that spread malaria.

Dr. Obidike further promised Ndi Anambra that Governor Chukwuma Soludo ’s administration would continue to engage and partner with relevant stakeholders for their health benefits as well as efficient service delivery.

The meeting was attended by the representatives from the security agencies, Civil Society Organizations, the Federal Road Safety Corps, Malaria Consortium Group, among others.
