Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr Echeng Echeng has commissioned a police outstation built by Enugwu-Ukwu born philanthropist and Chief Executive Officer of Rotech Energy Services Limited, Chief Austin Oguejifor.

The police outstation is situated at Anambra Luxury Place Estate GRA Nkwelle Ezunaka, Oyi Local Government Area.

Mr Echeng received the keys to the facility from Chief Oguejiofor in a ceremony held at the station

In his address during the commissioning, Mr. Echeng who spoke through the Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of Operations, Mr. Aderemi Adeoye, said the edifice will enhance safety and security of residents in the estate and neighborhood, and noted that it is rare to find estates like Luxury Place with a provision of police station incorporated into the design and commended Chief Oguejiofor for his foresight.

The Police Commissioner described the project as a step in the right direction and a progressive endeavor to enhance the safety of the people, adding that carefully trained Police personnel have been selected to use the station as a base and for watertight security for residents of the estate and nearby areas, including Anambra International Passenger and Cargo Airport, Umueri.

He assured that the outstation will assist in identifying and solving the problems that confront the people and help the police to advance the frontiers of safety for the discharge of their constitutional duties of protecting lives and property.

On his part, Chief Oguejiofor, said that he decided to build the police outstation in order to provide security for residents of the estate and neighborhoods, which is in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s vision of tackling insecurity, as it was a fulfilment of his earlier promise to the Nigerian Police Force when police facilities were being razed in some parts of the state.

Chief Oguejiofor recalled how he built the Anambra State Police Command Anti-cult office and handed it over to the Police authorities in 2015, adding that the facility is necessary to motivate members of the Nigerian Police Force serving in the state whom he said have been working hard in protecting the lives and property of the citizenry and promised to deliver the operational van for the outstation, as he is interested to make the estate a crime free area.

In a vote of thanks, the Police Public Relations Committee Zonal Chairman, Sir. Chris Okeke, assured that with the facility, the safety of lives and property would be enhanced in the area.

One of the landlords in the estate, Mr. Kenneth Okoli, appreciated Chief Oguejiofor for the gesture saying that residents will now be rest assured of their adequate safety.

The event attracted the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Uche Okafor and the Managing Director of Anambra Broadcasting Service ABS Sir Chido Obidiegwu.
