Wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Mrs. Nonye Soludo says she will collaborate with the Ministry of Women and Social Welfare to take up scholarships for two children who survived years of domestic abuse and trafficking.
The two kids, Chimkamnayo Olisaemeka, seventeen and Emeka Okoye, twelve years respectively were rescued from their abusive guardians by the Ministry few weeks ago, after one of such cases went viral on social media.
while Master Chimkamnayo survived deadly domestic abuses from his uncle and wife whom he lived with in Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area, Emeka was a victim of child trafficking.
Sharing a dining table with the two kids, Mrs. Soludo assured them that their harsh days were over, as she would link up with the Ministry of Women and Social Welfare to ensure that they get back to school as soon as the new academic calendar opens in September, and see them until the end.
The governor’s wife urged them not to relent in exploring their potential and to always remember that they could still become anything they wish to become through hardwork and humility.
She promised to immediately order for books for them while they wait for their academic enrollment, and asked them to stay committed to their future.
Responding, the two children also promised to be the best they could be and assured that they would make the governor’s wife and Anambra State proud.
While Chimkamnayo says he has passion for Physics and Chemistry, Emeka said he prefers Mathematics.
The Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo, was present at the interaction .
