As part of activities lined up to mark his sixtieth birthday, the Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim has laid the foundation stone of Mount Zion International Retreat and Resource Centre, Awka.

Archbishop Ibezim was assisted by Most Reverend Cyril Odutemu of Bendel Province and Bishop of Idah Diocese, Right Reverend Joseph Musa.

According to Archbishop Ibezim, the ceremony is remarkable for the Diocese, pointing out that the Retreat and Resource Centre will serve as a holy place that will house a minimum of twelve prayer altars where people will seek God and make their supplications to Him.

Most Reverend Ibezim said that on completion, the project will serve as a place of pilgrimage for people, especially those who could not ordinarily go to Jerusalem.

On his part, the newly appointed Resource Centre Officer, Reverend Josiah Anyawutaku, thanked the Archbishop for the upliftment and pledged commitment to work with his vision to ensure that massive progress is achieved.

The President of the Women’s Ministry in both Awka Diocese and Niger Province, Mrs Chioma Ibezim was part of the ceremony.
