Mrs Nonye Soludo, wife of the Governor of Anambra State, has asked women to use the ongoing August meeting as a platform to discuss ways to end increasing cases of drug abuse among youths, as well as domestic violence against children.

The Governor’s wife, while hosting women groups at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, reminded them that there is a huge task ahead, with reference to the current social insecurity, which she insisted must be tackled squarely.

Mrs Soludo noted that mothers, as the heart and conscience of the home and society, must wake up and lead the fight against social vices among youths, pointing out that the increasing reports of drug abuse among school children and domestic violence against children raise serious questions about mothers’ roles for a better society.

She also asked her guests to use the annual all-women convergence to find ways to invest in lucrative agriculture, and to also pay attention to what they eat, as well as their hygiene practices.

The Governor’s wife also reassured the women that her husband’s development model for the state is a product of careful thoughts and strategic planning, and called for support in the quest for a better Anambra.

Mrs Soludo had been engaged in a week-long interaction with organized women groups from different socio-political and religious backgrounds, including wives of traditional rulers, women presidents general.
