Anambra State Commissioner for Culture, Tourism and Entertainment, Comrade Don Onyenji, has called on corps members serving in the state to use skills they acquired while at orientation camp to impact on their host communities, as well as improve their living standards.
Comrade Onyenji, who gave the advice during National Youths Service Corps, NYSC, carnival held at the Orientation camp, Umuawulu/Mbaukwu in Awka South Local government Area, commended the corps members for their artistic displays and the event, and urged them to be friendly in relating with members of their host communities for a smooth exercise.
Commissioner Onyenji also encouraged the corps members to be multi-talented and explore opportunities available for them to empower themselves, even as he charged them to be the change agents Nigeria needs.
While wishing them well in their endeavors, the Commissioner encouraged the corps members to key into Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s developmental programmes by supporting him through their community development services.
He commended the Anambra State Coordinator of NYSC and her team for managing the corps members well, and prayed God to reward them accordingly.
On his part, the traditional ruler of Umueri, Igwe Benneth Emeka, who restated the importance of culture, informed the corps members that Anambra people are hospitable and peace lovers, urging them to reciprocate same, even as he prayed for their safety, job opportunities and divine favour.
The NYSC carnival featured display of various cultures of Nigerian people.
