Governor Chukwuma Soludo led government has continued to demonstrate commitment to growing grassroot sports development amongst the youths.
The feat, which is gradually yielding dividends, is evident in the exploits of little Miss Stephanie Onusiriuka, an eleven years old girl from Anambra State, who won gold at the on-going Africa Gymnastic Clubs Championship at Pretoria, South Africa.
A release signed by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Soludo, Mr. Christian Aburime, said that the governor, who has followed the exploits of little MissOnusiriuka with keen interest, applauded her exemplary spirit of excellence for winning Gold Medal.
According to the release, while congratulating her, Governor Soludo noted that winning a gold medal at such a high-profile sports event was a feat worth celebrating and emulating noting that the Anambra brand undoubtedly, is synonymous with excellence which little Miss Onusiriuka has continued to demonstrate over time.
The release further quoted Governor Soludo as expressing great confidence that little Miss Onusiriuka will continue to be a true Anambra brand Ambassador as she flies the Nation’s flag higher and globally.
The young budding golden talent, little Miss Onusiriuka, won five medals and became overall best gymnast in Nigeria in 2021 when she was just ten years old.
There and then she expressed her only desire to be the world best gymnast and hoped of becoming a part of the Nigerian gymnastics’ team at the Olympics in future.
However, little Miss Onusiriuka’s performance qualified her to participate in the Tokyo Olympics but her age was a major impeding factor, as the qualifying age is fifteen years.
