India has reiterated its commitment to strengthening its business and economic relations with Nigeria.

 

The country’s High Commissioner in Nigeria Mr Gangadrine Balasubramanian, who made the promise at the seventy-sixth independence celebration of India in Abuja, said, the India-Nigeria relationship started many years back with the establishment of its office in Lagos.

According to the India High Commissioner the relationship has remained strong, and developed into multifaceted ways almost in all places including human capital development.

 

He said trade and economic relations between the two countries has remained strong with about thirty-five Indian companies in the country adding that they are not moving away from the traditional areas of cooperation but diversifying to new areas including information technology, artificial intelligence with scientific development, solar energy among others.

Mr Balasubramanian, who had earlier read the message of the President of India to the nation, stressed that his country will continue to cooperate with Nigeria in finding solutions to the insecurity in the country as the business between them has since after COVID-19 lock down, increased on both sides with India importing about ten billion dollars worth of oil from Nigeria.

 

The seventy sixth Independence celebration saw India children and their parents thrilling the audience with their various musical and dance displays.
