Anambra State government has approved the rehabilitation of nine roads in Okpoko Ogbaru Local Government Area.

 

 

 

According to a Post Executive Council meeting press release signed by the State Commissioner for Information Sir Paul Nwosu the roads measuring fourteen point zero five-three kilometers with dual carriage, reinforced concrete media and sidewalks on both sides will cost four point nine billion naira and will be completed in twelve months.

 

 

 

The release stated that the projects are in fulfilment of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s campaign promise to immediately commence the urban regeneration of Okpoko slum in Ogbaru Local Government Area,

 

 

 

The release also stated that the Council approved the full-scale desilting and dredging of sixty-two thousand and thirty-four cubic metres of Nwangene drainage which has been a source of nightmare to road users at the cost of two hundred and forty-one million, four hundred and thirty-nine thousand, three hundred and sixteen naira twenty-nine-kobo and will be completed in three months while the rehabilitation of the failed carriage way and embankment at Mmili John section of Oba-Ojoto road and the dredging of Mmili John was equally approved by the Council at the cost of sixty-one million, four hundred and ninety-four thousand, five hundred and forty-one naira eighty-eight kobo and is expected to be completed in six weeks.

 

 

 

It disclosed that following a memo on the abandoned government house and twenty-five other peripheral structures presented by the Commissioner for Housing and considered by Anambra State Executive Council, the project which will cost six point eight-eight-billion-naira and completed within eighteen months was approved by the Council.

 

 

 

The release stated that the Council also endorsed for the construction of gate houses, police posts, perimeter fencing measuring two point two-two linear kilometers and other internal works such as drive ways, parking areas, walk ways, drainages, water supplies, green area, among others at the cost of one billion three hundred and seventeen million naira and will be delivered in nine months.
