Just eleven days into theEmber months, the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC and the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, have cemented plans to jointly sensitize consumers, especially motorists and other road users on the need to free all roads from crashes.
The plans were sealed when the South East Zonal Coordinator of FCCPC, Awka, Mr. Izunna Nwafor, led members of his team on visit to FRSC Anambra State Sector Commander, Mr. Adeoye Irelewunyi in his office in Awka.
In his speech, Mr. Nwafor explained that FCCPC is the apex federal government agency that has the mandate to promote competition; protect and promote the interest of consumers in any business environment.
He noted that FCCPC, established under the FCCP Act of 2018, is also mandated to among other things, promote choices and ensure fairness towards protecting the interest of consumers among others.
Mr. Nwafor disclosed that the visit was aimed at organizing or undertaking a joint sensitization campaign to the consumers with the FRSC.
Responding, the Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr. Irelewunyi, assured the FCCPC team of the commission’s willingness to collaborate with them through the Corps’ annual rally and awareness creation platforms to ensure that South East Roads are free from crashes throughout the Ember months and other festive seasons across the zone.
The visit climaxed with the exchange of educational materials between the two agencies, sensitization of officers and men of the command on the mandates and functions of the commission, question and answer session
