The Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria, CYON, Saint Peter’s Parish Nkwelle, Awka, has ended its 2022 Youth Week Climax celebration with a thanksgiving mass and exhibition.
The week-long celebration provided opportunities for the youths to showcase their God’s given talents, acquire knowledge and skills as well as discuss challenges inhibiting growth and development of the youths and proffer lasting solutions.
The CYON Climax celebration, which has been perennial in the parish, was to appreciate God for his love and protection and encourage youths to work hard for brighter and prosperous future.
In his address, the CYON President, Mr. Kenechukwu Arinze, who defined the celebration as unique , solicited for financial support to establish CYON office and a bookshop.
The Vicar and Youth Chaplain of the Parish, Reverend Father Anthony Ezeteka, expressed confidence that with the knowledge garnered, the youths can now engage in many lucrative businesses and become self-reliant.
In a remark, the chairman on the occasion, Mr Christian Mbah, advised them to pursue good policies that will foster sense of belonging, and live a life worthy of emulation.
Some of the guests, including the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Uche Ekwunife, represented by Mrs. Ify Chinwuko and the All-Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Candidate for Awka South Constituency One, Mr. Samuel Nwofor, lauded the role youths play in church and nation building.
The event featured cutting of the Youth Week cake, choir rendition, dance and exhibition of products produced by the youths.
