Ndi Anambra coming back for Christmas celebration will experience quality access roads as construction of many dilapidated roads are already ongoing in various parts of the state.
The Commissioner for Works, Engineer Ifeanyi Okoma made this known while interacting with ABS Works Correspondent, Ngozi Obileri, on Anambra at thirty-one, the journey so far, in areas of road network.
Tracing the state of Anambra roads since its creation from the military regime to the last administration, Engineer Okoma said that all the past Governors in the state performed well with the funds available to them, recalling that Anambra once was known as the state with the best road network.
While regretting that the roads are bad due to lack of quality and durability, he assured that the Soludo’s administration will give Ndi Anambra two hundred and twenty kilometers of roads that would have a life span of between twenty and thirty years within the first year.
According to the Commissioner, Anambra state government is already intervening in some dilapidated federal roads, citing the reconstruction work going on at the Ogidi catchment pit area and the waterlogged portion of Nnobi-Awka-Etiti- Ichida-Isuofia road.
Engineer Okoma announced that the Amansea -Ndiukwuenu-Awa- Ufuma road will witness massive work in the next few days, while that of Amansea -Ebenebe -Ugbene -Ugbenu – Obaofemmili road is presently at the tender stage and would be flagged off soon, adding that government has awarded contract of about fourteen point zero five three kilometers of road in Okpoko.
He said that within Awka, they are on tender for about fifteen kilometers of road.
The Works Commissioner noted that many roads would be flagged off now that the rains are subsiding, so that Ndi Anambra coming home for Christmas will have a hitch free holiday and called on all to give the government every necessary support to enable it fulfill its mandate for the state.
