The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 13 Ukpo, Mr. Umar Mauri says the Nigerian Police Force in the zone is winning the war against the so called “unknown gunmen” that are terrorizing the zone.

 

Mr. Mauri stated this during his one-day working visit to the Anambra State Command of the force.

AIG Mauri, who was on arrival received by the management team of the Anambra State Police Command, led by its Commissioner, Mr. Echeng Echeng at the Command Headquarters at Amawbia, immediately inspected the quarter guards mounted by men of the force before proceeding to the interactive session and lecture scheduled with four hundred officers including Deputy and Assistant Commissioners of Police, officers in charge of tactical and strategic units, Area Commanders, and Divisional Police Officers.

 

Addressing the officers, Mr. Mauri stated that the zone in collaboration with other security agencies has greatly pushed back on the violent crimes that characterized the zone for over a year and commended men and officers of the command for their efforts in ensuring that the life and property of citizens in the command are protected and preserved.

He charged the officers on professional conduct and maintaining the ethical codes of the police as the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Usman Baba-Alkali will not relent in punishing misconduct.

 

Also speaking, Mr. Echeng revealed that the suspected mastermind in the March attack on Okija Police Station, Ihiala Local Government Area, where two police officers were killed, has been arrested.

The Police Commissioner revealed that the suspect and three members of his syndicate were arrested on Wednesday, August thirty-one and are now helping the police with further investigations.
