The Anambra State Female Comrades, championed by Miss Chiamaka Okparaojiego have organized a three-day skills acquisition training for young girls and women.
The program, tagged ‘Skills Acquisition: A tool for liberating women from economic abuse, was aimed at tutoring them on acquisition of skills to reduce the high rate of unemployment in the country and conscious efforts to establish and equip women to become self-reliant.
Speaking at the event at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Awka, the convener, Miss Okparaojiego said that they targeted to expose beneficiaries to skills that would enable them actualize their potential and earn a living without depending on anyone.
For a resource person, Miss Chidinma Okeibe, skills acquisition will help them to have self-control, be employers of labour and above all, free from both sexual and financial abuses even as she encouraged them to stand up and fight unemployment by acquiring a skill.
Another speaker, Miss Doris Ukachukwu, who measured on make-up and head tie , asked participants to make good opportunity of the knowledge garnered from the training to live fulfilled life .
Some of the participants, including Adaora Asiegbu, Chisom Nwana and Ebele Samuel thanked the convener Miss Okparaojiego for the steps taken to ensure that the girl child is out of the street.
Participants were nurtured on baking, beads making, yoghurt, make-up and soap making among others.
