Federal College of Education Technical, FCET, Umunze has held its 33rd matriculation ceremony for 2021/2022 academic session, contrary to fake news making rounds that it is on strike.
The event, which took place at the college convocation arena, had in attendance academic staff, Deans, Heads of Department, Coordinators of Programs, parents and others.
Education correspondent Theophilus Ukoha reports that the thirty-third/eleventh Joint Matriculation of College of Education Technical Umunze, is for students of National Certificate in Education, NCE, Degrees in affiliation with Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, and Professional Diploma in Education, PDE, programmes.
In her address, the college Provost, Dr Tessy Okoli said her long-term goal is to make the institution a center of excellence.
While promising that her management team would continue to provide the required facilities and environment for excellence to thrive, the provost congratulated the students on their successful admission, warning that the college pays serious attention to attendance.
She advised parents to disregard the fake report of strike which was intended to cause panic and incite students’ unrest.
Speaking at the event , the Vice Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Professor Charles Esimone, said that the matriculation ceremony marked the formal admission of new students into the degree programme of the university domiciled in the FCET, Umunze.
Professor Esimone, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor academic, Professor Fredrick Odibo, affirmed that the degree programme in the college meets the high academic standard in curricular and other requirements of Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
Highpoints of the ceremony were the formal admission of five hundred and sixty-two students into their various academic programs and signing of the matriculation vow.
