TheChairperson, Anambra State Police Officers Wives Association, POWA, Mrs. Ikemi Echeng has distributed food items and empowerment equipment to fifty-three police officers’ widows and their children.
The items included tin tomatoes, confectioneries, noodles, yoghurts, detergents, bags of rice, toiletries, salts, beans, drinks, and sewing machines.
Distributing the items at the Anambra State Police Command Headquarters Amawbia, Mrs. Echeng, who is also the wife of the Anambra State Police Commissioner, disclosed that over one hundred widows,who lost their husbands while on active service will benefit from the gesture.
Mrs. Echeng thanked the women for allowing their husbands give their all to the society and stated that it is their responsibility to assist them by making sure that they are comfortable even as she assured that their plight would continue to remain their priority.
Also speaking , Mrs. Pauline Ajibo,who prayed for God’s blessings upon the benefactors, noted that the items will go a long way inalleviating their burdens as widows.
A member of Police Wives Association, Mrs. Blessing Emmanuel, who received a Sewing Machine and food items, in tears, wished that her husband was alive and confirmed that the intervention will reduce her sufferings.
