A University don from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Dr. Chinedu Ekweonu has called on the federal government to show more sincerity as a way to end the ongoing Academic Staff Union of Universities strike action.

 

 

 

Dr. Ekweonu who spoke to the ABS in Awka, regretted that the federal government has not shown sincerity and serious commitment to end the avoidable strike action since it began.

 

 

 

The University lecturer equally wants the President Buhari led federal government to accept the fact that Integrated Personnel Payroll Information Systems (IPPIS) is characterized by fraud and inconsistency, with the peculiarities of the University system.

 

 

 

He urged them to create a realistic format for a phased disbursement of Revitalisation Fund and equally arrive at a mutually acceptable formula for payment of Earned Academic Allowance.

 

 

 

Dr. Ekweonu noted that if nothing tangible is done urgently, the Nigeria university education may collapse entirely, which affects only the children of the poor.
