To ensure compliance with extant rules, the state Commissioner for Culture, Tourism and Entertainment, Comrade Don Onyenji, has called on the management of hospitality industries in the state to notify his ministry before giving approval for hosting of any event in their facilities.

 

Commissioner Onyenji made the call when he inspected a hotel in Awka, which was shut down by the state government due to immoral act carried out at the facility by some young people.

 

He said that the visit was to ensure compliance with government’s directive, adding that investigations are on to identify the perpetrators of the heinous act.

 

The Commissioner, who condemned the insensitivity of the management of the hotel by allowing such illicit act to take place in their hotel vicinity, warned that such must not happen in any leisure place in Anambra State.

 

He said the hospitality law of the state 2016 will be faithfully implemented for proper regulation of the industry, and called on owners of all the hotels and leisure centres in the state to come to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Entertainment at Jerome Udroji State Secretariat Awka to revalidate their operational licenses in their own interest.

 

While describing Anambra state as the light of the nation, Commissioner Onyenji called on Ndi Anambra to join hands to achieve Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s agenda of turning the state into a liveable mega and prosperous city that would be the envy of others.

 

The Group General Manager of the hotel, Sir Ndibe Ike, who regretted that the incident happened within the facility, claimed that the management of the hotel was not aware when their guests turned their party into a sex show.

 

While commending the state government for their prompt response, the Group General Manager of the hotel called on security agencies to assist in finding out the perpetrators of the immortal act, and advised other hoteliers to be careful with the way the operate to avoid similar problem.
