Students of Mass Communication Department, Federal Polytechnic Oko, have visited the Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS Awka, for a one-day excursion programme.
The students, who were led by their course representative, Mr Chukwunonso Egbobe, are all Ordinary National Diploma, OND one students.
On arrival, the students were taken round the ABS Master Control Room, Editing Suite, Television and Radio Studios by Mr Afam Obidike of the ABS Administration Department.
Interacting with the students at the television studio, the Managing Director of the ABS, Sir Chido Obidiegwu, took them on the process of broadcasting and advised them to avoid distraction and be serious with their studies.
After the lecture, Sir Chido gave them an assignment on what they learnt during excursion and evaluated them with first, second and third prizes.
Speaking after the excursion, Mr Egbobe said the essence of the excursion was for them to see things for themselves and to know more about broadcasting as Mass Communication Students.
Mr. Egbobe, who stressed the importance of knowing the practical aspect of their study to improve their learning, encouraged parents to not only send their children to school but to ensure that they learn practical aspect of their field of study to improve their knowledge.
He thanked Sir Chido for welcoming them and for taking time to explain to them what they were supposed to know, describing him as a good and humble man, as well as Mr Obidike for taken them round the ABS.
Two of the students, Miss Dorathy Orji and Mr Chibuike Okezuo thanked God for being part of the excursion affirming that it will help them in the practical aspect of their study.
