Worldwide Organization for women of Africa Incorporated, has organized a two-day leadership programme for selected public and private secondary schools in Anambra State.
The event held at the Conference Hall of Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board in Awka, featured various paper presentations.
Education Correspondent Theophilus Ukoha was there and reports that Worldwide Organization for Women of Africa Incorporated is an initiative to encourage women of Africa to confidently project their voices, building strong families and enabling platforms for the voiceless towards developing and providing solutions to their challenges .
In a welcome address the President of the Organization Mrs Nicholeen Peck, advised the students to exhibit qualities that will make a difference in individuals and impact positively on the society.
Also speaking, the Executive Director of the Organization for Women of Africa Incorporated, Mrs Amaka Akudinobi, represented by Mrs Nkem Umeadi, maintained that a good leader chooses the right path for a life of success.
The keynote speaker Mr Ejimofo Opara, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, urged the students to make good use of the internet to acquire more knowledge.
Other speakers include Dr Bibian Okoli whose paper is on “peer pressure and social vices, effects on growth and actualization of life goals’, Dr Hellen Obi on *Sexual harassment, causes, effects on victims and society”, and Mrs Gloria Nwafor, on “Disability, public awareness and perception.”
Later in an interview, the South East Co-ordinator Worldwide Organization for Women Africa Incorporated, Mrs Ethel Eruchalu and Personal Assistant to the Executive Director Worldwide Organization for Women Africa Incorporated Mrs Nkem Umeadi, expressed the hope that through the co-operation and consultation of all stakeholders the wellbeing of women in the society will be strengthened.
The event featured question-and-answer session, appreciation by some of the students, including Miss Esther Ajaero and Master Kingsley Okeke, music performance by talented students.
