The Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh has urged Anambra State teachers to do their work diligently as schools resume for another academic session.

 

Professor Chuma-Udeh, who gave the charge shortly after monitoring resumption compliance, said it was aimed at building a good academic standard for Anambra State pupils and students.

Education correspondent Theophilus Ukoha reports that Commissioner Chuma Udeh announced that Anambra State education system is on its road to digital transformation, as new components in teaching and learning are now being injected into the sector, adding that Morning Assembly, Inter-House Sports Competition and Handiwork are coming back to the school.

 

She however condemned the growing trend of putting on mini length uniform in schools saying it goes against the acceptable dress code for schools in the state and urged school managers to inculcate right moral standard and discipline in students and pupils for a better society.

ABS monitoring crew, which visited some schools to ascertain their resumption readiness, reports that at Comprehensive Secondary School Nawfia, students were seen cleaning their classrooms, while new students were being admitted.

 

Speaking to the crew , the Chaplin, Reverend Father Prince Chukwudum, the Vice Principal Academics, Mrs. Oge Akabuike, and the vice principal administration, Mrs. Nneka Atogu, affirmed that the school is ready for the new academic session, pledging to ensure that students receive the best form of learning.

 

At Girls Secondary School Amaenyi Awka, the Vice Principal, General Duties, Mrs. Lizzy Onuorah on behalf of the Principal, Mrs. Felicia Eboagu, said that teachers are in high spirit to ensure quality teaching and learning.

 

 

In all the schools visited, both teachers and students showed reasonable readiness for the new academic session though they complained of lack of teachers for core subjects.
