Anambra State Government has commenced intervention work on the failed portions of the Amansea axis of the Enugu-Onitsha Old Road.

 

At present, work is ongoing on three hundred and fifty meters of the road at different locations.

The intervention work is being done by Anambra State Road Maintenance Agency, under the State Ministry of Works.

 

When ABS arrived the site, it observed that desilting of drainages on both sides of the road and removal of non-suitable materials from the soil have been completed.

Also speaking, the officer in charge, Anambra State Road Maintenance Agency, Mr. Azuka Egwuatu, an Engineer, said that Governor Chukwuma Soludo directed that the road be made motorable within the shortest possible time to alleviate the suffering of users.

 

Mr. Egwuatu, who disclosed their preparedness to complete the work within four days, since they are through with the placement of boulders, noted that they are presently on stone base after which they will prime and asphalt.

He listed Amansea Road, Ekwulobia Round About, St Joseph’s Cathedral Ekwulobia axis, Limca Road by Peoples Club, Awka Road, Agulu Lake axis among others as some of the roads they had intervened, revealing that they will soon move in to Nkpor-Umuoji Road.

 

In their separate speeches, some road users, including Messrs Samuel Jerry, Chukwujekwu Onwuasoanya and Abdulraman Zedi appreciated Anambra State Government for alleviating their plight.
