The Transition Committee Chairman of Orumba South Local Government Area, Prince Neville Uchendu, has launched “Operation Clear the Road Shoulders” in the area.

 

Performing the function, Prince Uchendu stated that the operation is targeted at maintaining clean environment in all communities of Orumba South for a healthy living maintaining that he will be going around the communities to monitor the exercise, adding that there will be reward for the cleanest community, as well as onward recommendations to Mr. Governor.

 

He noted that the local government is the first to launch such project in the twenty-one local governments areas of the state, and assured of its sustenance.

Prince Uchendu stated that the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, had revealed his administration’s plan to ensure proper waste management at various local government areas in the state, adding that the clean and green tree planting initiative of the Governor is designed to tackle erosion, which he said is the number one existential threat of Anambra State, as there is a link between waste management and erosion.

 

During the inauguration of the local government committee on ASWAMA, which will include Ward Councilors, Presidents General, ASWAMA members in each community, local vigilante group, the Local Government Chairman, Prince Uchendu, took the people down the memory lane when their communities, though without tarred roads, were very clean and motorable.

Speaking at the event, the ASWAMA Contractor, Pharmacist Chisom Uchem, emphasised the need for cleanliness and promised to ensure that Orumba SouthLocal Government Area becomes the cleanest in Anambra State, urging people of the area to be sure of quick response to duty.
