Nnobi Community in Idemili South Local Government Area has celebrated its 2022 Asholu Festival in grand style with a football tournament.

 

The festival is always marked with displays of different masquerades and a football competition among the three quarters of the town.

Speaking at the event the President-General of Nnobi Welfare Union, Mr Dominic Okpala expressed joy on this year’s Asholu Festival as no casualty was recorded.

 

He thanked the sponsor of the tournament and called on the indigenes of Nnobi to embrace peace and unity for it brings progress and development.

The Chairman of Nnobi Sports Committee Mr Ọchịagha Chino stressed that the competition brings joy and togetherness among the quarters of the town.

 

A cash prize of two hundred thousand naira went to the first position while one hundred and fifty thousand naira and one hundred thousand naira went to second and third positions respectively.

Chief Innocent Nwosu, Chief Executive Officer of Lovebite Foods and Beverages Nnobi represented by the Head of Sales Department, Miss Chinenye Okechuwu highlighted that the essence of sponsoring the tournament is to promote peace, unity and progress in the community.

 

Chief Nwosu stressed that the company has in many ways provided positively to the life of the community especially their workers and commended the players on their level of professionalism and sportsmanship throughout the competition.

The Deputy President-General of Nnobi Welfare Union, Mr Okechuwu Odezue, and Presidents of the three quarters of Nnobi attended the event.
