As Nigeria marks its sixty-second Independence Anniversary, stakeholders have blamed the challenges facing the country on poor leadership.
While reacting on the level of development in Nigeria, the immediate past Senator for Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Victor Umeh, said that Nigeria only needs visionary leadership to get better.
According to Senator Umeh, Nigeria is blessed with enormous human and natural resources capable of making it compete favourably with other nations, calling for a total reflection on the past and how best to make it a better nation.
On her part, the APGA Candidate for Oyi and Ayamelum Federal Constituency, Lady Maureen Gwacham, harped on the need for Nigerians to use this period to reflect on the journey so far and how best to improve the country.
Contributing, another stakeholder, Chief Azubuike Ekweozor, who regretted the challenges facing Nigeria after sixty-two years of independence, opined that Nigerians should channel their strength on how to make Nigeria better.
Chief Ekweozor noted that Nigeria at sixty-two is worth celebrating but noted that poverty and hardship are still at the increase and called on critical stakeholders to be committed in building a better future for the younger generation.
They canvased for unity of purpose noting that Nigeria must shun ethnicity, religious and political differences to move forward.
