Anambra State Waste Management Agency, ASWAMA, has released updated rates for Ndi Anambra.

This was disclosed by the managing director of ASWAMA, Mr. Mike Ozoemena, an Engineer, during a Radio program, “Anambra Tax Matters”.

Mr. Ozoemena, who used the opportunity to give reasons for the new rate said, it is for government to have enough money to clear every street of refuse.

He explained that more waste collection trucks will be procured and fueled for the work, noting that waste bins will also be purchased and placed at strategic locations across the state for effective waste collection and management.

According to Mr. Ozoemena, the new rate is a little increase on the amount households pay, noting it is classified according to local government which could be rural, semi-urban and urban.

He listed Awka South, Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Aguata, Nnewi North, Idemili North and Ogbaru as local governments in the urban category, Njikoka, Idemili-South, Ihiala, Awka North, Oyi, Orumba North, Orumba South, Anaocha, Nnewi South, Dunukofia, and Anambra East as semi-urban local governments while Ayamelum, Anambra West and Ekwusigo are rural local governments.
