About one hundred and eighty-five thousand persons are currently receiving health care under Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme across two hundred and sixty private and public hospitals in the state.
The Chairman Anambra state Health Insurance Agency, Dr Simeon Onyemechi announced this at the Godwin Ezemo International Press Center, Awka, during the October monthly congress of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Anambra state council.
Correspondent Ngozi Obileri reports that Dr Onyemechi was the Guest at the October Congress of the union.
Represented by Nneoma Anoliefo, Dr Onyemechi outlined various services rendered by ASHIA to include promotion, prevention, curative, rehabilitation and treatment of common infections and infestations like malaria, typhoid, pneumonia, all childhood illnesses among others and cover common surgeries as well as laboratory services and hospital admissions for up to fifteen days.
He explained that every resident of Anambra state is a beneficiary of ASHIA package where they are expected to enroll and get registered to access quality healthcare services, pay a little sum of money while Anambra state government complete the rest of the money.
Dr Onyemechi called on all to take advantage of the offer, and get quality healthcare, as according to him, a caesarian operation under ASHIA for non-civil servant’s costs sixty thousand naira while civil servants are charged thirty thousand naira to have caesarian operation.
He said that ASHIA is waxing stronger now that Governor Chukwuma Soludo has thrown his full weight behind them, as he said that the governor does not want anything short of quality healthcare services to Ndi Anambra.
Earlier in an opening speech, the Anambra state chairman of NUJ, Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu commended the state government for making all the twenty-one local government areas of the state peaceful and working, but observed that conducting local government election is key to getting the grass roots working very well.
Dr Odogwu urged journalists in the state to be there for one another and love each other as brothers to make the council envy of all across the country.
