The former Anambra State Commissioner for Public utilities Engineer Emeka Ezenwanne has called on teachers to help recapture the society through quality assurance in the education sector.

 

Engineer Ezenwanne gave the advice in Awka while reacting on the 2022 world teacher’s day celebration.

Government House correspondent Valentine Mbadugha reports that October 5th every year has been set aside since 1994 to celebrate and honour teachers for their contributions towards the development of the society.

 

For this year’s celebration with the theme, “Transformation of Education Begins with Teachers” stakeholders at different levels shared different views with regards to the expectations of teachers and level of decadence in the society today.

For Engineer Emeka Ezenwanne, there is great need for improved commitment to responsibility from teachers as their role towards building a progressive society cannot be overemphasized.

 

Contributing, the APGA Candidate for Idemili North and South Federal Constituency in the 2023 general election, Chief Ikenna Iyiegbu and his Oyi and Ayamelum counterpart, Lady Maureen Gwacham said that any society without quality teachers visa viz strong education system has no place in the 21st century.

 

They commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his efforts in making Anambra state education system number one in Nigeria through the ongoing recruitment of about five thousand teachers.

On his part, the APGA Candidate for Oyi constituency in the forthcoming general election, Sir Innocent Ojike while noting that teachers are veritable instruments every society must not joke with said that all stakeholders must play their part to get the best of teachers.

 

While noting that the effect of laxity in teachers are seen on their end product which are the students, Sir Innocent called on teachers to see their job as important as creation itself adding that every professional that will play a part in making the world a livable place must pass through one teaching process or the other.
