The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command has arrested eight persons suspected to be transporting and transloading adulterated petroleum products.

 

The Anambra State Commandant of the corps,Mr. Chikere Chukwudi, who disclosed this during a press briefing in Awka, said that the Command’s Anti- vandalism team intercepted and arrested Ahmed Luka, Mohammed Sani, John Sari and Ali Ahmed Jafara all male and from Nasarawa State at Immigration junction , Awka, transporting forty thousand liters of suspected adulterated petroleum product with truck number Nasarawa, KRV 825 XB.

While Jerry Agar from Nasarawa, Christian Atser, James Tersoo and Silas Motoko all male from Benue State were nabbed transloading forty thousand liters of suspected adulterated product at a filling station at Umuokpu, Awka, with long hose, one pumping machine and a truck with registration number, Bauchi, 595 XR.

 

The Commandant said that the arrests were made possible due to the operational strategies put in place by the command since his arrival, all geared towards curbing the activities of those engaging in illegal dealings on petroleum products and pipeline vandalization.

While assuring that the command will intensify its efforts towards the eradication of oil theft and economic sabotage to the federal government’s main source of revenue, Mr. Chukwudi attributed their successes to the synergy existing between all the security agencies in Anambra State.

 

He specially appreciated the support of the commandant general, Dr. Ahmed Audi and Governor Chukwuma Soludo in ensuring that they do their job seamlessly and promised that they will continue to protect governments critical assets, infrastructure and protect lives and property of Ndi Anambra.

One of the suspects, Mr. Sari told the ABS that he was escorting one of the tankers, conveying the suspected adulterated product.
