Goods and property worth billions of naira have been submerged by flood at Pokobros Industries Ltd, Ogbaru Local Government Area.
Assessing the level of damage at the establishment, sited at Harbour Industrial Layout, the ABS observed that the entire area were completely submerged by flood with vehicles, machines, raw materials and products floating.
Speaking on the development, the General Manager, Mr. Jack Ogbue, explained that their facilities were submerged on Sunday following the downpour and regretted that despite proactive measures taken by the organization to avert the disaster, it still wreaked havoc.
Mr. Ogbue, who pointed out that that the industry contributes meaningfully towards national development as an employer of labour, lamented that most families have lost their source of livelihood due to the devastating effects of the flood.
He appealed to federal and state governments as well as international donor agencies to come to their aid and assist in cushioning the effects of the disaster.
Some factory workers in the area, including Messres. Israel David and Walter Udokoro, who recounted their woes, lamented that the situation has paralyzed their businesses, and solicited intervention to alleviate their plights.
